Class 9 2019 - 2020
Monday 18th May 2020
Dear Class 9,
Thank you for all the work you have been doing on Purple Mash it has been lovely to see all the reading you have been doing – keep it up! It has also been nice to see photos of the activities you have been doing. Some of the maths and writing work is very impressive.
I have added some photos to the gallery on this page to show you what some people have been sending me. Click here to see them.
I have also really enjoyed seeing the maths and writing work you have sent me on 2email this week. It has been lovely to see your amazing writing again!
Remember now we are using the 2email system on Purple Mash, I can send you extra information sometimes to help you with these tasks. The 2dos on Purple Mash will continue with reading and topic activities.
You can also reply to me on 2email and attach photographs of your work or ask me questions about it. Please remember to just send photos of your work though and not of any other family members.
This week we are continuing using White Rose lessons for mathematics at home.
The address is https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/
You will find year groups in a menu on the right. Each lesson comes with a video explanation you will find the videos in the links below and on the White Rose website.
This week I have attached the worksheets to the 'Files to Download' section of this page (they are now only available to teachers with a subscription on the White Rose website) The activities can be completed on paper. You can access an answer sheet to mark your own work. Lessons on White Rose line up with the BBC Bitesize daily lessons, so don’t forget to have a look on the BBC website or on the red button on your TV too.
Maths this week:
I would like both Year 5 and 6 to do the Year 5 work this week. You will still find videos on the White Rose website or by clicking the links below.

Lesson 2 Add fractions https://vimeo.com/418155456
Lesson 3 Add mixed numbers https://vimeo.com/418155646
Lesson 4 Subtract mixed numbers https://vimeo.com/418155840
Lesson 5 Challenge (See White Rose Website)
Once you have completed your maths, mark your own work using the answer sheets.
While we have been away from school I have realised how much I have missed reading your wonderful, creative writing and seeing your beautiful handwriting!
Therefore, each week I am going to be setting a writing task for you to complete at home. The task will be set on Monday to be completed and handed in by Friday.
Once you have completed your writing, if you can, ask an adult to take a picture of it and send it to me from your class 2email account.
I have attached the writing activity to the files to download section of this page (see below) - make sure you read it carefully, so that you know exactly what to do. You can also find copies of the writing activity within the home learning tab on the school’s website and sent as an attachment on 2email.
So every week you will be set:
Reading – 2do on Purple Mash (new activity daily)
Topic – 2do on Purple Mash (new activity daily)
Maths – From White Rose (there are daily activities here)
Writing – Writing activity attached to the email (lasts for whole week)
Stay safe and well.
