Class 9

Welcome to Class 9. My name is Mrs Regan and I am the Class 9 Teacher.

Happy New Year! I hope you had a lovely and relaxing christmas. As we enter 2022 we also enter the final year, year 6 will be at St. Paul’s. This term year 6 will be starting revision for SATs. Children will also be learning about the topic of World war two, which I am sure they will really enjoy!

In English the theme will be ...WWII!

In English this half term we will be using the text ‘The Lion and the Unicorn’ by Shirley Hughes and Other books set in World War II such as the Diary of Anne Frank

There will also be additional writing opportunities including letters, and diary entries.

PE Information: 

Swimming kit will be needed on a Wednesday for Year 5 until July (One piece swimming costume for girls, or swimming shorts above the knee for boys). If your child requires goggles, you will need to provide a note confirming this for the swimming teachers

Indoor kit will be needed by all on Friday for Gymnastics with the sports coach (School Yellow PE top, black shorts, pumps) Football tops will not be allowed. Year 6 will also need an indoor kit on a Wednesday.

Please note PE kit can be left in school for the half term. It is important that children have their PE kit ready for lessons as children who do not have 

Homework   

Spelling: Children will be set spellings on a Friday to be tested the following Friday.

English and Maths: Year 6: CGP Arithmetic and Grammar revision guides. This work is set on a Friday and due in on a Thursday.

Year 5: Year 5 Homework will be set on a Friday and is due in on Wednesday. English and Maths will be set on alternate weeks. 

Reading: Please listen to your child read at home and sign their Reading Record. We would like children to read at home at least 3x per week.  Reading Records will be checked every week and we aim to listen to children read in school once per week.
