Update on wider opening of school

15.6.20

Dear Parents

Assuming public health next week confirms that we can begin the wider reopening from Monday 22nd June, then on that date, we will start welcoming back those year 1 children, whose parents requested that their child would return to school. We will contact these families individually by email with further details.

Following the intake of year 1, we will now, not be reopening to the reception class prior to the summer holidays. Instead we will be prioritising next, the year 6 pupils whose time at St Paul’s will be coming to an end this year. I apologise for the disappointment this may cause for some of our families with children in Class 1, but with limitations on staffing and this being the time of farewell for our year 6 children we are focussing our resources on this group. We do look forward to the time when we will be able to welcome back all of our children, who we will be spending many years to come with.

For our year 6 parents there is a link to a survey monkey where you will be asked if your child will be returning to school. You will be asked for the name of your child and a yes/no question, if they will be returning. I ask that you complete this survey by 9am on Wednesday 17th June, so that we can make plans accordingly. You still need to fill this in even if you completed the previous anonymous survey.

The link to this survey monkey is for year 6 parents only:

Depending on numbers returning, it is likely that your child will be allocated a set number of days each week to come into school on a rota basis (This may only be two days in the week).

Following completion of the survey we will contact you as soon as we can to confirm allocated days, staggered start and finish times, which bubble group they will be assigned to and further specific details.

If you as parents decide not to send your child back to school, then parents and carers will not be subject to a penalty notice for non-attendance, until further notice. I do appreciate that families have some very difficult decisions to make regarding both their children’s education and the safety of their children and their wider family and their work commitments. It is a complex and exceedingly difficult choice.

I wrote previously on 26th May with information on what school will look like on return. This was sent via email and is also available on the school website:
